Who can say what drives us every day to continue building our projects, evolve as people, create life or just create? Let us agree that life unquestionably contains a boundary dividing the waters of what was and what will be. That moment -that we can generically call midlife- affirms our convictions, even when in doubt, and allows us to project ourselves forward. It is a path towards introspection, yes, but it offers a stop, a way of stepping back and analysing who we are from a certain perspective. [...] Claudia Anselmi's Dis-Coverings (Des-cubrimientos) exhibition shows this moment. And even though all the artist's output is marked by a strong inwardness, it would not be wrong to assume that we are facing one of her most emotionally dense productions, with a deeper personal commitment. Her rolls in boxes (or boxes with rolls) materialise the process of seeking-capturing- evaluating and feed from multiple sources that practically flow by themselves: her old drawings from the 1980s, the drawings by Iris Costa (her paternal grandmother) that confirm the extent to which family’s imprint influences the creative process, and series of new drawings that synthesize the artist's fleeting, yet powerful, inner visions.
