Games in the Forest

The imaginary games in the forest proposed by
Claudia Anselmi are far from being trivial. They are
very strict games. For the record, I said strict and not
serious, nor solemn, nor circumspect. Magic and
wonder always exclude the presence of these bitter
fairies that I have just mentioned. Good magic, born
from marvel and astonishment, piercing through the
boredom of reality, is never serious. Wonder, this
elusive state the fleetingly lights up the soul is never
solemn, is never associated with pompous galas or
extravagant formalities. It happens in the almost
intangible and tenuous territories of the poetic.
Deep and lasting fascination is never circumspect. It
is never cautious nor hides under the bemused
armour of decorum, of oppressive and bothersome
correctness. But, perhaps one of the notable
advantages of the games that Claudia Anselmi offers
is that, furthermore, she de-dramatizes them.
